Proud to Serve

Hiring and supporting veterans and military family members is part of who we are. U.S. Bank employees lead the way when it comes to growing their careers and giving back. One of the ways our employees do this is through the Proud to Serve business resource group. This national, employee-led business resource group supports veterans and military families within U.S. Bank and in the communities we serve. Members include veterans, military family members and employees who want to get involved. Their collaboration informs company-wide policies and programs, influences the products and services we offer customers, and creates meaningful networking and volunteer opportunities. Through our H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities after Military Engagement) program, we donate bank-owned homes to military service organizations, which in turn renovate them and donate them mortgage-free to wounded veterans and their families.

Throughout your U.S. Bank career, you can rely on our military-friendly culture to help you balance your commitments and focus on your success.

As a U.S. Bank military employee, your experience might include:

  • A personal welcome from another employee veteran.
  • A Proud to Serve lapel pin.
  • A checklist for newly hired veterans that’s designed to help you quickly get connected.
  • Extra paid time off to participate in reintegration activities or attend to service-related medical issues.
  • MentorConnect, a program that connects you with veterans or other employees who can help you grow your career.
  • Our Military Leader Development Program, which transitions officers into branch management.
  • A Military Rotational Program for service academy graduates.
  • A Proud to Serve intranet site and an online community where you can connect with other veterans.
  • Our annual Veterans Day conference call for employee veterans and military family members, hosted by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Davis.

If you’re a National Guard or Reserve member who’s deployed during your time at U.S. Bank, your experience might include:

  • A send-off ceremony with your team and local leaders.
  • A loaner tablet or computers to help you and your family stay connected while you’re away.
  • A personal letter from Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Davis near Veterans Day.
  • A phone call to your family from a U.S. Bank leader offering thanks and encouragement.
  • Policies and procedures regarding leave, benefits and pay differential that are among the most inclusive in our industry.
  • A military leave policy that exceeds state and federal standards.

In addition:

  • We give special consideration to employee requests for internal transfers made necessary by military reassignment.
  • We offer eligible employees up to two weeks of paid leave in connection with a family member’s military deployment.
